A building often have interior and exterior but with an oculus, the interior and exterior start to merge.The three ramps create a zigzag elevation and it both lead to Nightingale's office - no distinction in nature.

The high-tech glass walls of Hawking's office is both a barier and a connection between him and the space - they prevent him from falling off the office floor but also allow him to experience the space of the bigger room.
